About The Position

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Youth Services Security officers conduct operations of the Risk Management Department, ensuring the safety and security of the juvenile correctional facility, Wyoming Girls School (WGS), that serves a potential 60 adjudicated female delinquents, ages 12-21; for the purpose of changing their thinking and behavior of delinquency and dysfunction to become more productive members of their community and lessen the threat to re-offend upon their release. Requirements

  • Ability to manage crises in compliance with MANDT principles, WGS policy, and Wyoming State Law.
  • Ability to participate, implement, and utilize advanced crisis intervention training.
  • Basic and MANDT training.
  • CPR/First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens training.
  • Defensive Driving Certification.
  • Suicide Intervention and Prevention training.
  • Knowledge of PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) standards and practices.
  • High School Diploma
  • 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Youth Services Aide
  • 1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Youth Services Aide
  • This position will work 10-hour shifts
  • May be required to work weekends and holidays
  • Must have the physical ability to complete the MANDT certification
  • All positions within the Department of Family Services will require a background check, including taking fingerprints, which will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.

Responsibilities

  • Provides for the safety and security of residents during awake hours.
  • Monitors support and assistresidents and staff.
  • Responds to all emergencies.
  • Produces and/or reviews incident reports.
  • Manages radio traffic regarding facility events andresident movement.
  • Greets guests in a manner that reflects a positive image and excellent customer service.
  • Frequently transportsresidents to and from appointments and activities.
  • Directs or assists in investigations involving risk management, safety, and welfare of residents and staff.
