About The Position

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements programming for youth, birth through teens.
  • Conducts and evaluates programming for youth, families, and adults working with children.
  • Assists with publicizing library programs and services by supplying content to the Marketing Department.
  • Works with community groups, including schools and daycares, to promote reading and literature appreciation.
  • May assist with outreach duties such as delivering book kits to daycares.
  • Develops working relationships with area schools.
  • Attends conferences, workshops, and committee meetings representing the library.
  • Performs direct public service at the reference desk, providing reader's advisory service.
  • Offers specialized knowledge of juvenile and young adult materials.
  • Provides direct research assistance to the public in person, by phone, and online.
  • Trains patrons to use the library catalog, computers, internet, and e-content devices.
  • Assists in weeding and maintaining the children's and teen collection.
  • Pulls themed books for educator requests.
  • Keeps current with popular children's media and suggests titles for purchase.
