Position Overview: The Youth Recovery Worker provides daily direct interaction, connection, and support for youth in the assigned unit. This position is responsible for upholding Risking Connections and Restorative principles in direct interactions with the youth and directly executing each child’s service and safety plans. Youth Recovery Workers are advocates for the youth in care.

Requirements

  • HS/GED, associate or bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred
  • Two (2) years’ experience in child welfare or residential facility
  • Valid and Current Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • Meet State “Good Moral Character” guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Continuously builds relational connection with the youth on the unit
  • Provides crisis intervention while upholding fidelity to program intervention models
  • Collaborate with the team, across units, and across departments to ensure child success and positive culture
  • Uphold unconditional positive regard for the children in care, separating the child from their behavior, in all interactions/conversations/notes/reports with and about youth
  • Ensures children’s service and safety plans are effectively executed during assigned shifts
  • Provides immediate, appropriate, and kind redirection and correction for problematic behaviors among the youth in the unit, in accordance with Risking Connections and Restorative principles
  • Maintain continuous visibility and accessibility for youth served
  • Provide court testimony and recommendations as needed
  • Contributes to child treatment planning and assists youth in completing treatment goals and action steps
  • Uphold compliance with all regulations as required on the unit
  • Articulating and exemplifying the agency’s treatment philosophy and values
  • Continuously improving performance
  • Gathers necessary information at the start of shift, and shares information at the end of shift, to ensure continuity of services
  • Advocates for the youth in the unit, including providing targeted support for individually assigned youth
  • Actively participates in weekly supervision
  • Attends and actively participates in group and building meetings
  • Supports team culture to be trauma informed, compassionate, and upholding children’s and families’ dignity
  • Collaborate with family therapists and other personnel to assist with executing a family plan
  • Abide by licensing and contract obligations, including participating in audits, reporting and investigations as needed
  • Communicates timely with internal and external stakeholders with a high level of professionalism
  • Ensures all reporting and documentation are completed within the required agency and stakeholder systems (e.g. MiSACWIS, Relias, Paycor, CareLogic, etc.)
  • Ensures regular and punctual attendance for all assigned shifts
  • Identifies personal sensitivities/challenges and successfully self-regulates under pressure
  • Performs other duties related to the essential duties of the position and within the individual’s capabilities as assigned by one’s supervisor.
