About The Position

The New York Road Runners Internship program is a paid, 21-week experience in which interns have the opportunity to learn from the best in the non-profit business. Interns will work collaboratively with professionals in their field of study and will have opportunities to network across the organization. The program will include professional development events and a chance to make a direct impact on the communities in New York City by working select events. Interns will receive onboarding and training to learn about NYRR and gain the knowledge needed to best perform in their role. Internship dates will be Monday, June 15, 2026 to Friday, November 13, 2026. The Program Planning Intern will play an important role in supporting the youth program team with project coordination, administrative tasks, research, and contributing new ideas and perspectives to enhance program growth. The role is well suited for an organized, detail-oriented and community minded individual interested in youth programming, youth development, and program administration.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Masters program working towards a degree in sports business or management, communications, non-profit leadership, community impact, social responsibility, or data analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work occasional weekends or evenings
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Punctual and dependable
  • Travel within NYC as needed to conduct site visits and support events
  • Undergo NYCPS security clearance procedures
  • The ability to be active, outside in the elements for the duration of event shifts

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of New York City Public schools preferred
  • Experience working with youth or educational settings

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative planning support to youth program team in preparation for the 25-26 school year
  • Support administration planning for the fall NYCPS grant initiative
  • Assist with program data tracking, reporting and progress monitoring to support the coordination of onboarding for NYCPS fall grant sites
  • Assist with reviewing and developing marketing assets for NYCPS Grant Initiative and other youth program materials
  • Support with brief submission for marketing assets
  • Assist with the development of the On the Rise newsletter for NYCPS Grant Initiative
  • Support the planning and review of research study dissemination
  • Assist with compiling insights from study
  • Provide ideas and feedback on resource integration
  • Assist with school registration at weekend events – Cross Country events, Jamboree, and Kids Kick Off
  • Provide prep and day of support for the Shoe Distribution event during marathon week
  • Support preparations for the Kids Kick Off event
