About The Position

The Part-time Youth Assistant performs a variety of support tasks which assist the After School Program Administrator and Youth Coordinator in planning and conducting after school activities and programs for Hopewell Students.

Requirements

  • The candidate must have at least a high school diploma.
  • They must possess a good knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn and understand, child growth and development as it relates to the position.
  • The candidate should be able to implement departmental plans for activities, follow written and oral instructions, assist in program implementation, and participate in monitoring and ensuring appropriate behaviors.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.
  • The candidate must demonstrate considerable patience and the ability to work effectively with children, young adults, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, human relations, and communication skills are also required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the supervision of all participants and activities organized by The ‘WELL, including in-house activities, field trips, and other activities.
  • Assists with planning and conducting activities for the well, including promotion, marketing, distributing and collecting materials, advertising, set up and clean up, etc.
  • Models and promotes positive behaviors and social interactions.
  • Builds relationships with youth to nurture strengths and promote healthy social and emotional growth of participants.
  • Assists with providing a safe environment by monitoring and supervising all youth during arrival and departure.
  • Helps maintain order and assists in managing the behavior of the youth, including crisis prevention, restorative justice and other social emotional techniques.
  • Develops and implements intervention strategies designed to improve the social skills and academic performance of youth.
  • Encourages community and stakeholder involvement activities.
  • Assists in planning and implementing monthly calendars and events, to include gaming tournaments, sports tournaments, etc.
  • Creates flyers and other marketing tools to distribute for extracurricular activities that the organization hosted by The 'Well.
  • Performs any other related work duties as assigned or required to improve and maintain the daily function and success of The 'Well.
