Youth Peer Support Specialist (Part-Time | 20 hrs/week) If you've dealt with mental health or substance use struggles as a kid or teen and you've made real progress in your own recovery, you might be the kind of person who can truly help others. We're hiring a Youth Peer Support Specialist at Livingston County Community Mental Health. It's a 20-hour-a-week, part-time job, and it's built for someone with lived experience. In this role, you'll work with kids and teens who are dealing with serious emotional or mental health issues. Your job is to support them, listen, and help them feel less alone. You'll be part of a team, but what makes you valuable is your story. You've been there, and you can connect in a way that others can't. What you'll do: Build trust and rapport with the youth that you work with. Help youth speak up for themselves in meetings and make choices about their care. Based on your personal positive experiences, help guide youth with life skills and self-advocacy. Be someone they can count on when things feel tough. Help others understand what it's really like to live with mental health challenges. Push back against stigma and help others see the full person, not just a diagnosis. Co-lead support groups, work in multidisciplinary teams, and train others from the lens of a peer. Work with schools and community groups to make support easier to find. This job is about being authentic, using your experience to support others, and showing youth that recovery is possible. You don't need to have all the answers. You just need to be in a solid place and ready to give back. If you've ever thought, "I wish I had someone like me when I was younger," this is your chance to be that person for someone else.
