About The Position

Reporting to the Youth Program Project Manager, the Youth Outreach Coordinator will work with the APILO Youth Project and manage the Youth Advisory Council internship, including planning and implementing programs and educational events. This role is based primarily in our Oakland office, with additional responsibilities linked to our San Francisco office. The role requires a strong commitment to social justice, with frequent interactions with a wide range of stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to serving underserved Asian and Pacific Islander communities and BIPOC communities in the Greater Bay Area.

Requirements

  • At least two (2) years experience in community organizing and/or social services to youth with survivors of interpersonal violence, youth violence, human trafficking in the Asian/Pacific Islander, Latino, or other communities of color.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and to serve disadvantaged persons.
  • Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed and maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Completion of 40-hour domestic violence counselor training or willingness to complete such training.
  • Ability to work well in a team oriented, multicultural work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS Degree in relevant field such as Social Work, Psychology, Nonprofit management
  • Knowledge of history and impact of racial, sexual, and gender-based crimes on API and other communities of color in the greater San Francisco Bay Area
  • Training in case management/working with survivors of trauma.
  • Bilingual/bicultural skills (Spanish, Cantonese, or other API language)

Responsibilities

  • Provide community education and outreach on issues of significant concern to the community, including potentially gender-based violence, domestic violence and other intersecting issues.
  • Conduct in-person bi-weekly youth meetings on Sundays at Oakland or San Francisco offices.
  • Work with community partners, schools, law enforcement, and other youth serving agencies in service coalitions and collaborations.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to CBOs, public agencies, APILO staff, volunteers and pro bono panels.
  • Build and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with youth members.
  • Attend and organize outreach events consistently.
  • Represent the organization at community and other meetings.
  • Other office related duties as assigned.
