About The Position

The Youth Ministry Assistant supports the mission of St. George Parish by providing comprehensive administrative and programmatic assistance to the Youth Ministry Coordinator/Confirmation Coordinator. This position collaborates with parish staff, volunteers, and youth to help plan, organize, and implement youth ministry programs that respond to the spiritual, social, and developmental needs of the St. George Parish community.

Requirements

  • Be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church
  • Be proficient in Office Suite, Google Workspace, Canva, & GroupMe.
  • Be able to work some evenings and weekends
  • Be able to complete Child Protection Certification through the Diocese of Baton Rouge (can complete upon hiring if needed)

Nice To Haves

  • Youth Ministry experience, either attending, volunteering, or leading
  • Experience in program building
  • A bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Basic graphic design, social media, audio/visual presentation, and public speaking skills
  • Strong communication, interpersonal relation, conflict resolution, collaborative ministry, recruiting, and networking skills
  • A willingness learn on the job and think outside the box in dynamic settings to meet the needs of parish ministries

Responsibilities

  • Working alongside YMC in middle school, high school, and confirmation preparation programs to account for growing needs in parish ministry.
  • Developing strategies with the YMC for revamping ministries, organizing volunteers, and identifying areas of growth so as to better encounter students and their families where they are while leading them to deeper relationship with Christ.
  • Coordinating and executing events, classes, or meetings within ministry branches each month as directed by YMC
  • Maintaining Youth Ministries communications with students, parents and St. George School, including a monthly newsletter
  • Working with YMC to further develop this job and fill related needs as they arise in this position to account for ministry growth within the parish.
  • Cooperate with other parish programs, organizations, and individuals as needed for the benefit of St. George Parish community.
  • Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, & staff liturgies, prayer, and faith sharing.
  • Serve as liaison between parish, diocesan, deanery, and other organizations related to area of responsibility.
  • Participate in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all programs related to major areas of responsibility
  • Serve as professional resource to other staff members in areas of responsibility.
