This position is responsible for providing a person center therapeutic relationship for youth or adults with I/DD who are struggling with mental, behavioral, social, and emotional impairment. The primary responsibility is to support members in learning to cope with their mental and behavioral health challenges. In close coordination with the therapist, the Youth Mentor helps the members learn and practice skills that will help them improve their mental health symptoms and live in the community. This position requires the ability to teach and model effective personal interactions and behaviors, advocate for the members in different systems they are involved in, share personal experiences, mentor, and help the members build natural supports and community connections.
