About The Position

The Youth Mental Health Technician position at AMFM Healthcare involves providing compassionate support and care for adolescents aged 12-17 who are facing mental health and substance use challenges. The role is centered around coordinating daily activities, ensuring client safety, and facilitating therapeutic interventions in a residential mental health facility. The technician will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery and wellness among clients, while also maintaining a clean and supportive environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field preferred.
  • Valid US driver's license with a clean driving history for at least 4 years; must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check through CDSS/DOJ Bureau of Criminal Information & Analysis LiveScan.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs and perform essential job functions satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and transports clients safely to all daily activities, ensuring timely arrival to scheduled activities.
  • Utilizes intervention and communication skills in working with clients, their families, and significant others daily and in crisis situations.
  • Adheres to all Joint Commission policies and procedures, including infection prevention and control.
  • Proficiently navigates and utilizes the BestNotes electronic health record system to document client activities effectively.
  • Collaborates with the program nurse and clinical team regarding medication management and monitors client behavior for medication side effects.
  • Monitors and documents client self-administration of medications while coaching clients in self-management.
  • Maintains the integrity of the residences, ensuring optimal cleanliness and hygiene at all times.
  • Facilitates recovery and clinically indicated activities and groups according to organization policy and documents in the electronic health record.
  • Conducts observation rounds to ensure client safety and documents client behavior and participation in treatment.
  • Reports client attendance of daily recovery activities as scheduled.
  • Assists with intakes and discharges of clients according to AMFM Healthcare's policies and procedures.
  • Assists in crisis intervention when needed.
  • Conducts orientation for new residents, reviewing safety drills, exit routes, and first-aid procedures.
