About The Position

Help us serve the youth and make a difference in your community! Goodyear Youth Sports is looking for volunteer coaches for the winter season. All Goodyear Youth Sports teams are coached by volunteers. Whether you have a child on the team or not, you are welcome to apply to become a volunteer in our youth sports programs.   Practices begin the week of December 15th with games played on Saturdays beginning January 3, 2026 and ending February 14. The expected time commitment is approximately 2-3 hours per week, with 1-2 practices a week and 1 game a week on Saturdays. This league is recreational, with a focus on equal playing time, basic skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. There are no playoffs or tournaments. Coaches meeting will be Thursday, December 4th at 6:00 PM. Questions? Please email [email protected]  Coaching Benefits: Head coach will receive a $90 credit after successful completion of season (Resident Rate). Reserved practice field with lights at Goodyear Recreation Campus. Opportunity to request up to 5 players on your team this includes your own child/family member. Requests are not guaranteed. Player requests must be registered for the program. If they are on waitlist, we will not guarantee they will be placed on a team. Practice equipment (footballs, flags, and cones). Access to MOJO Coach training app for practice plans, game plans, and coach training.  Coaches Shirt (Head Coaches Only). Volunteer hours.

Requirements

  • Applicant must be 18 years of age
  • Submission of Volunteer Application each season
  • Submission of online Background Check
  • Abide by Coaches Code of Conduct

Responsibilities

  • Coaches are required to attend the coaches meeting on Thursday, December 4 at 6:00 PM, and are responsible for contacting their teams after the meeting.
  • Coaching Flag Football requires basic knowledge of the game, rules and the ability to demonstrate and communicate proper skills and drills.
  • Coaches are expected to follow the coaches code of conduct and place an emphasis on teamwork, sportsmanship, and equal playing time.
  • Coaches are expected to contact their teams regarding practice and game schedules and any league updates.
  • Develop and implement meaningful and instructive practice plans.
  • Emphasize teamwork, equal participation, and good sportsmanship.
  • Communicate effectively with league administrators as well as team parents via phone, email, or text regarding schedules, league updates, rules, etc.
