About The Position

Under the supervision of the Association Youth Empowerment Director, the Youth Empowerment Programs Facilitator is responsible for implementing the YMCA’s new Youth Empowerment Program portfolio including but are not limited to the Career Development Program, Y Achievers College and Career Readiness, Youth & Government, and YMCA Leaders Club in multiple site locations including targeted schools - and community settings to young people ages 11-19. This position facilitates program delivery and site development through program awareness and youth engagement. Additional responsibilities include assisting with participant and volunteer recruitment, and maintain paperwork/records for all programs to ensure program quality, enrollment, and retention.

Requirements

  • BA/ BS degree in education, adult education, sociology, psychology, or a related field; OR its equivalent in related professional experience.
  • Two plus years of experience in working with the opportunity youth population, non-profit sector, social services or related field.
  • Training and workshop facilitation experience with youth who have diverse needs.
  • Strong ability to be an engaging presence leading and teaching youth participants.
  • Outstanding communication skills, leadership skills and the ability to determine and set priorities; manage work schedule as well as the capacity to handle multiple tasks appropriately in a fast-paced work environment.
  • The ability to bring energy, inspiration and connection to individuals with diverse backgrounds, learning styles and comprehension levels.
  • The incumbent should possess a high level of initiative, professionalism, and a positive attitude and enjoy working in and creating a strong team environment.
  • Ability/ Availability for flexible work hours to meet the needs of participants and their families.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with workforce readiness and cognitive behavioral change preferred.
