About The Position

As a Youth Residential Direct Support Professional, you’ll teach life skills, assist with daily routines, and support youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) with personalized growth plans, ensuring a safe/clean environment. You'll supervise activities, lead community outings, document progress, handle emergencies, and collaborate with your team to inspire growth and success. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, and TWO (2) YEARS’ experience with youth OR THIRTY (30) SEMESTER HOURS of college credit AND ONE (1) YEAR OF EXPERIENCE with youth OR AN ASSOCIATE’S DEGREE.
  • Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure while dealing with a variety of emotions and frustrations.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License (or ability to obtain within 30 days) with 5+ years of driving experience.
  • Pass FBI, CBI, and TRAILS record checks; flexibility in scheduling.
  • Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure while dealing with a variety of emotions and frustrations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic math; strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Crisis management certification (Safety Care) and ability to work effectively under pressure as part of a team.
  • Requires physical strength, endurance, and mobility for household tasks and behavioral interventions.
  • Must lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and maintain various postures (kneeling, squatting, sitting, standing) for extended periods.
  • Ability to restrain, hold, or transport residents using quick body movements as needed.
  • Completion and maintenance of Safety Care certification (Crisis Intervention Training).
  • Must be physically present at assigned locations (home, school, or community).
  • Requires adequate hearing, vision, mental flexibility, emotional stability, and creativity to handle challenging situations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety and supervision of residents at home and in the community, assisting with daily routines and programs.
  • Perform case management, including crisis intervention, program development, and documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with families, schools, therapists, and other stakeholders.
  • Handle emergencies, administer medications, and maintain documentation (e.g., log notes, incident reports).
  • Support and model trauma-informed care, fostering a safe and healthy environment.
  • Participate in training, meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform administrative tasks, basic cleaning, and other duties as assigned.
