POSITION SUMMARY: The Youth Development Program Director provides leadership for the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region’s school-aged programs across all branches. This role ensures high-quality, innovative, and safe youth programming by guiding and supporting program leadership and program staff,strengthening community partnerships, and aligning services with organizational goals. Through consistent presence and intentional interactions, the Youth Development Program Director models exceptional customer service, fosters strong relationships with families and stakeholders, and ensures a unified, mission-driven approach that enhances the participant’s experience and advances the success and growth of youth development programs association-wide. CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION: I will support the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region’s commitment to child abuse prevention by: Reporting any suspicious behaviors and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and rograms, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children. Completing all child abuse prevention training as required Reporting any items that may provide a health and safety hazard to staff, members, or guests to you The YMCA has a zero tolerance policy for abuse. We will report all suspected and/or allegations of abuse to state and federal law. CERTIFICATIONS: Complete Redwoods: Hazardous Communications (yearly), Sexual Harassment Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens (yearly), Child Sexual Abuse Prevenition (yearly), and Behavior Management 101 Complete and maintain ALL licensing required forms, training, and background check requirements. Maintain CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer every 2 years; skills every year Maintain First Aid and Administering Emergency Oxygen every 2 years You are responsible for staying compliant with ALL state licensing requirements. Non-compliance will result in removal from the schedule and possible termination if non-compliance continues. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Applies to Before & After School Programs + Summer Day Camp): Oversight of B&A, Summer Day Camp, Adventure Days and Teen programs as assigned. Primary contact in responding to all programs needs to include accidents and incidents and basic needs within program areas. Manages Executive Director involvement based on circumstances. Supervise and evaluate site directors, counselors, aides, and volunteers if applicable. Work with staff to deliver a quality program experience and identify individual needs at each site. Provides staff guidance on proper procedures at site to meet expectations. Ensure that all site directors retrieve and maintain necessary participant documents that are up to date and on site or with staff at all times. Responsible for department hiring and recruitment efforts. Assessing department position needs on a weekly basis and posting jobs as needed. Tracking active job postings for applicants. Complete and coordinate phone screens and job interviews. Coordinates and facilitates the orientation and on-boarding process of new staff that will be running programs at sites such as interviews, orientation, and additional training by position. Provides assistance in efforts to train site directors, counselors, and aides within the department on YMCA Association standards, state licensing requirements, and other job related functions. Responsible for department staff scheduling. Coordinates weekly schedule for all department programs to be put out 2 weeks ahead of time. Sends schedules out on a regular basis to all staff. Primary responder for all call-outs. Responsible for coordinating coverage for sites as needed and in compliance with state licensing requirements. Leadership will evaluate and assess the department to determine if there are other responsibilities that need to be assigned. Maintain timely and professional communication and kind relationships with peers, supervisors, & staff. Collaborate with other colleagues May be required to work hours outside of normal work schedule for training, extended program hours, parent nights, or association events. Communicate effectively with all other staff, parents, and participants. Be available to act as the primary substitute, in or out of ratio, and travel throughout the region we serve (Fountain to Monument) on a regular basis. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to visually observe children and to physically intervene when the safety of a participant could be compromised. Ability to physically move with participants through a wide variety of indoor and outdoor program settings and activities including but not limited to swimming, hiking, skating, gym activities, arts and crafts. Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Verifiable education or training in work with school-age children in such areas as recreation, education, scouting or 4-H
  • Completed at least one of the following qualifications: A four (4) year college degree with a major such as recreation, outdoor education, education with a specialty in art, elementary or early childhood education, or a subject in the human service field; OR Two years of college training (60 credits) and six (6) months (455 hours) of satisfactory and verifiable full-time or equivalent part-time, paid or volunteer, experience, since attaining the age of eighteen (18), in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children; OR 21 months (3185 hours) of satisfactory and verifiable full-time or equivalent part time, paid of volunteer, experience and one of the following qualifications: Complete six semester hours, or nine quarter hours in course work from a regionally accredited college or university; OR Forty (40) clock hours of training in course work applicable to school-age children and the department approved courses in injury prevention, and playground safety for School-Aged Child Care Centers within the first nine months of employment. A current early childhood professional credential level 2 or higher in version 3.0 as determined by the Department based on its Early Childhood Professional Credential 3.0 Worksheet.
