The Youth Development Professional (YDP) serves as a direct-service leader in creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment that promotes the holistic development of all youth. YDPs implement daily programming with intentionality and enthusiasm, fostering relationships that support each child’s academic, social-emotional, and physical growth. Through activities such as STEAM, literacy, athletics, mentoring, and arts & culture, YDPs create opportunities for exploration, creativity, and connection. Youth Development Professionals work within a team-based structure, operating with the support of Youth Development Assistants and fellow YDPs, while also receiving ongoing mentorship and coaching from Youth Development Managers. Youth Development Professionals receive ongoing guidance from Youth Development Managers and report to the Site Director. Youth Development Professionals at BGCWPA operate in alignment with PA DHS Chapter 3270 regulations and are considered equivalent in qualifications to “Assistant Group Supervisors” in a licensed childcare setting. YDPs support the success of the clubhouse by ensuring high-quality supervision, modeling positive behavior, and contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
