Boys & Girls Clubs is hiring energetic, positive, and caring Youth Development Professionals for our temporary summer program! This short-term role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with youth, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want a rewarding summer experience.

Requirements

  • Understanding of youth development principles (elementary/middle school preferred)
  • Experience leading or assisting with groups of children
  • Strong behavior management skills
  • Passion for working with youth and supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs mission
  • Reliable, flexible, and positive attitude
  • Open to feedback and learning
  • 1–3 years of experience working with children in group settings
  • Fingerprint background check and reference clearance required
  • TB testing is mandatory (initial clearance required prior to employment; renewal every four years)
  • Applications may be disqualified if references cannot be reached or inaccuracies are found
  • Resumes must show relevant childcare experience and meet qualification requirements

Responsibilities

  • Create a Fun & Safe Space: Help maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all club members.
  • Supervise & Support: Guide and supervise children during daily activities, ensuring safety and positive behavior.
  • Lead Engaging Activities: Assist with fun, age-appropriate programs including arts & crafts, sports, STEM, games, and character development.
  • Encourage Participation: Motivate youth to get involved, try new activities, and build confidence.
  • Positive Behavior Support: Use effective behavior management strategies to promote respect and teamwork.
  • Collaborate with the Team: Work alongside staff, volunteers, and partners to create a successful summer program.
  • Be a Role Model: Demonstrate enthusiasm, responsibility, empathy, and integrity.
  • Safety First: Follow all safety guidelines and respond appropriately to incidents or emergencies.
  • Stay Organized: Record attendance, incidents, and observations as required.
  • Family & Community Support: Help build positive relationships with families and the community.
  • Adapt & Pitch In: Be flexible and ready to support a dynamic summer environment.
  • Professional Growth: Participate in required onboarding and training sessions.
