About The Position

YDP’s prepare youth for success by creating an environment that facilitates the achievement of Boys & Girls Clubs’ youth development outcomes. This work is accomplished by promoting participation in clubhouse programs, providing guidance, and role modeling to members. The role involves planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating activities within specific program areas such as Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education. Specialists within this role focus on areas like Health and Life Skills, Character & Leadership, Sports, Fitness, & Recreation, Education and Career Development, The Arts and Cultural Enrichment, and Technology, ensuring young people develop positive behaviors, educational proficiency, fitness, creativity, and technological skills.

Requirements

  • Experience working with youth and understanding of youth development
  • Demonstrated experience conducting youth activities in at least one of the designated Core Areas
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Negative TB test
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (Within 30 days of hire)
  • Background check clearance
  • NCLB (No Child Left Behind) certification required/ 48 Transferable Units.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of youth development, safe and appropriate activities for youth, and understanding of the culture and community in which the clubhouse is located.

  • Project Management (Able to plan, implement, and supervise safe, quality programs for youth)

Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements, supervises and evaluates activities provided in within a specific program area, such as Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education.
  • Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Promote and stimulate program participation.
  • Register new members and participate in their club orientation process.
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the branch at all times.
  • Prepare periodic activity reports.
  • Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly branch staff meetings.
  • May participate in special programs and/or events.
  • May be required to drive Club van.
