About The Position

The Youth Development Director at YMCA of Greensboro is responsible for leading and managing the Youth Development Department's activities and programs. This role focuses on strengthening community foundations through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, while upholding the organization's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional journals, financial reports, governmental regulations, and legal documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and respond to inquiries from members or parents.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • CPR/AED, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen training required upon hire and must remain current throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid CDL may be required.
  • Experience in program/project management.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, directs, and coordinates school age youth development programs for assigned location, ensuring high quality and expanding programs within the community.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers; reviews and evaluates staff performance.
  • Develops, manages, and controls budgets related to the position, ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints and collection of program fees.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local regulations and that YMCA program standards and safety procedures are met.
  • Maintains upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment to support healthy living.
  • Recruits members for and serves on the Parent/Board Committee.
  • Maintains appropriate records for the Youth Development Department, including enrollment, attendance, budget, collections, and expenses.
  • Coordinates and implements an annual marketing plan, including brochures and handbooks.
  • Organizes special events for parents and assists in YMCA fundraising activities.
