About The Position

The Youth Development Center Coordinator assists the YDC Site Director with execution and implementation of high quality YMCA childcare programs. Helps manage daily activities of the programs, including scheduling and supervising staff, providing employee training and administrative support and ensuring childcare compliance. Helps to assure that the core values of the YMCA are modeled to all children, staff and parents. Serves as an assistant manager, helping Site Director to interview, hire and train staff, with a focus on Part Time Teaching Assistants, Substitutes and the Food Service Assistant. Oversees scheduling, classroom activity, and the health and safety of the classroom environment and childcare participants. Provides excellent customer service to parents of childcare participants by communicating with them effectively as well as observing staff to assure that they are providing exceptional care. Helps to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities for infant, toddler, preschool and school-age childcare programs. Provides employee new hire orientation training and helps to coordinate hands-on classroom training. Assists with coaching, reviewing and evaluating Part Time staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. May substitute throughout YDC locations in a variety of roles as needed. Supports maintenance of all pertinent records regarding state licensing and administration of food service program. Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program and state licensing standards are met and safety procedures followed. Requirements

  • We are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • A High School diploma and 1 year of related experience required.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification and Child Abuse prevention training within 90 days of hire date required and are provided by the YMCA.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a related field, such as Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education, or a CDA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related experience in a licensed childcare facility preferred.
  • Experience with administrative duties and supervising staff also preferred.
