About The Position
The Youth Development Associate/Youth Development Specialist position at Gemstone ALTA/DSI, Salt Lake Youth Services, is a vital role within the Juvenile Justice and Youth Services (JJYS) department. This position is designed for motivated individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of youth in crisis. The primary focus of the role is to provide a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while ensuring public safety. The JJYS team members have the unique opportunity to witness the direct effects of their hard work and dedication in improving the well-being of at-risk youth. In this role, Youth Development Associates and Specialists work collaboratively in a professional team environment to supervise and teach pro-social skills to youth, helping them attain positive behavioral outcomes. The work environment can vary, including community settings, residential shelters, treatment facilities, or secure youth correctional facilities. The nature of the work is dynamic and challenging, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth as youth mature and change due to the interventions provided.
