About The Position

The Youth Community Outreach Specialist at Carolina Hurricanes is a full-time role focused on enhancing community engagement and promoting the Hurricanes brand through various outreach initiatives. This position supports the Community Outreach department's objectives, which include increasing revenue, supporting season ticket sales, and enhancing brand recognition. The specialist will manage programs related to the Industry Growth Fund, particularly the Carolina Hurricanes Passport Program, and will be involved in planning and executing community events and partnerships.

Requirements

• Relative experience in community relations, community-based programs, nonprofit work, or event management.
• Experience in the sports & entertainment industry strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays for games and events.
• Experience organizing and running events.
• Ability to represent the Carolina Hurricanes Community Outreach positively.
• Ability to set up and maneuver displays weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Excellence in organizational management and leadership.
• Ability to set and achieve strategic objectives and manage the IGF program budget.
• Experience in community relations and foundation initiatives.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in computer programs and database use.
• Valid NC Driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist in running programs related to the Industry Growth Fund.
• Oversee the Carolina Hurricanes Passport Program, including its look and mission.
• Manage day-to-day programming and tracking for the Passport Program, including school support.
• Plan and manage school and community partnerships tied to the Passport Program.
• Oversee all internal and external events related to the Passport Program.
• Coordinate marketing efforts associated with the Passport Program.
• Create yearly recaps of the IGF program for the team and NHL.
• Work with local school systems to implement programming focused on health, education, and brand connection.
• Plan, manage, and run community events/promotions to promote the Carolina Hurricanes brand.
• Support annual major and minor community events, including hockey camps and clinics.
• Assist with in-game promotions and youth activities.
• Partner with the Community Events Manager to execute south plaza parties before games.
• Support the Hurricanes Foundation Donation Exchange program.
