The Youth Coach works as a member of the Youth Empowerment and Support (YES) team to work with at-risk youth. They provide one-on-one mentorship, focusing on building the youth's strengths, fostering attachments to school, community, and family, and creating achievable goals. Coaches help youth develop independent life skills, connect them to mental health services, substance abuse treatment, employment opportunities, and pro-social activities, while fostering supportive networks. Familiar with the communities they serve, Youth Coaches understand how Social Determinants of Health impact quality-of-life outcomes and risks, ensuring their support is both relevant and effective.
