About The Position

The Youth Cheer Coach position is part-time and located in the Anthem and North Phoenix areas, with opportunities for expansion into other areas of the Phoenix Metro. Coaches will begin training immediately upon hire for the upcoming spring session, starting as assistant coaches to learn and shadow experienced coaches. The role involves coaching one evening per week, consistently on the same day throughout the semester, and working with children aged 4-15. Coaches will teach the basics of cheerleading and cheer dance, including the use of poms, and will participate in three to four paid weekend events each semester. The position emphasizes fun while learning, aligning with the values of ACTIVSTARS, which has been offering youth programs for 39 years.

Requirements

• Previous cheerleading experience
• Enjoy working with children aged 4-15
• At least 18 years old
• Reliable transportation on a weekly basis
• Enthusiastic, positive, and passionate about cheerleading
• Ability to lead by example and be a role model to youth

Nice To Haves

• Experience with teaching children
• Experience in choreographing cheer/dance routines
• Experience with performance-oriented cheers

Responsibilities

• Prepare practice sessions and lesson plans
• Teach students safely and effectively
• Oversee practice check-ins
• Choreograph dance routines and performance cheers per team level
• Teach team stunting fundamentals and execution
• Maintain basic record-keeping
