About The Position

The Career Advisor will counsel and assist program customers regarding job search strategies, personal career advisement and training, identifying and working with barriers to employment, and professional goal setting and planning. The advisor will identify outside resources, programs, and other services for customers as needed. Responsibilities include advising, monitoring, and tracking customer participation to maximize program functions and opportunities. The advisor will manage day-to-day relationships with customers, address concerns promptly, and document findings with case notes. Maintaining knowledge of various occupations and career paths is essential for effective placement and assessment of customers. The advisor will provide motivational support, identify training needs, facilitate job readiness activities, and document customer success stories. Administrative tasks include maintaining accurate records and correspondence, producing documents, and assisting in training other team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Art/Bachelor of Science in psychology, marketing, business, human resources or related fields preferred.
  • Experience working with career counseling consumers in a high volume work environment.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to relate well with individuals and motivate those with barriers to employment.
  • Connection with other human service agencies in the community.
  • Knowledge of job search strategies and resources.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Experience with State Workforce System is a plus.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and a fast learner.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
