The Youth Care Worker is responsible for providing direct care supervision and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for Unaccompanied Children (UC) in accordance with licensing standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves supporting the emotional and physical needs of children facing significant challenges, ensuring their safety, and promoting their well-being through various activities and interventions.

  • Conduct intake services for incoming UC, including completing necessary paperwork and assessments.
  • Provide basic needs to UC upon arrival, including meals, clothing, and hygiene products.
  • Support routines of UC through assistance and supervision of daily activities such as wake-up, bedtime, personal care, and meals.
  • Perform behavior management and oversee therapeutic activities and crisis intervention.
  • Supervise UC and set appropriate behavior limits according to individual treatment plans.
  • Provide appropriate intervention to ensure UC safety and well-being, including 1:1 monitoring as directed.
  • Clean, organize, and maintain the UC living space to provide a safe environment.
  • Conduct regular headcounts of UC under care.
  • Document interactions and progress notes to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Assist UC with social skills, anger management, and daily living skills.
  • Work closely with management to plan and implement social and recreational activities for UC.
  • Accompany UC on outings and activities to promote community inclusion.
  • Report safety hazards and risks to management in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the evacuation of UC as needed due to emergencies.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • 1-year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents.
  • Ability to work extended shifts, including 12-hour shifts at least once a week.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize job duties and resident needs.
  • Proficient with basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Associates degree in Social Services, Human Services, or closely related field.
  • 2 years' previous experience performing direct care services to children and adolescents.
