About the position

Get to know Thompson! We were founded in 1886 as an orphanage and have grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas and into Florida with new operations expanding in Tennessee. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention services, foster care, and mental health. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. As a Youth Care specialist, you will provide supervision, support, guidance, and build a therapeutic relationship with the youth under your care. A typical day as a Youth Care Specialist will include engaging with youth in the program, providing direction, structure and support for their physical and physiological needs. Scheduling and participating in activities, ensuring the physical milieus remain clean and safe, completing daily documentation as required by regulatory standards and transporting clients as needed for appointments and activities. This position may require travel to various residential facilities within the Jackson area. As a Youth Care Specialist, you will work the below rotating schedule: 1st Shift: 7am-7pm or 2nd Shift: 7pm-7am. Week 1: Monday, Thursday, Friday. Week 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, support, and guidance to youth under care.
  • Engage with youth in the program.
  • Provide direction, structure, and support for physical and physiological needs.
  • Schedule and participate in activities.
  • Ensure the physical environment remains clean and safe.
  • Complete daily documentation as required by regulatory standards.
  • Transport clients as needed for appointments and activities.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the program.
  • High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least one year of experience working in a residential youth operation or related experience in child and family services.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must work one of the following schedules: 1st shift (7am-7pm) or 2nd shift (7pm-7am).
