About The Position

Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, the Youth Care Advocate is responsible and accountable for monitoring youth and for maintaining a safe and secure environment for both staff and youth. He/she will reflect and display the character development core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Requirements

MUST BE 21+
High School education; related work experience.
Possess the ability to meet the physical needs of the program, including restraining juveniles up to approximately 200 pounds.

Responsibilities

Implement security procedures of the YMCA and house as outlined in the Operations Manual.
Supervise and monitor youth in all activities of the program both in and out of the house.
Implement and supervise recreational activities.
Conduct proper intake and discharge procedures for residents.
Keep accurate logs and records.
Maintain YMCA, DCF, and DEEC policies and procedures.
Supervise and assist in meal preparation and distribution.
Attend all scheduled full staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
Intervene to prevent any crisis situation according to the Behavior Management Policy of the house.
Work as part of a team with co-workers.
Receive permission from Shift Supervisor or PIC (Person In Charge) before leaving the house to ensure proper staff coverage.
Report any suspected child abuse or neglect to the Shift Supervisor and Shift Administrator.
Follow dress code policy.
Complete youth incident reports and logs before shift end
Maintain work schedule as directed.
Assist other service programs and families cooperatively as a representative of the Old Colony Y.
Assume PIC (Person in Charge) responsibilities as assigned.
Ensure all fiscal policies and procedures are followed for such things as petty cash, purchase orders, vouchers,
