About The Position

Walton Family Whole Health & Fitness, managed by HealthFitness, is looking for Youth Camp Counselors to join the team at our state-of-the-art facility in Bentonville, Arkansas (AR). In this position, you will assist with kids camps scheduled when public schools are closed. Out of School Camp Schedule: October 16-17, November 24-26, December 22-23, 26, 29-30, January 2, 5-6, January 19, February 16, March 23-27, April 27. Shifts will be 7:15am-5:45pm; hours per week will vary based on the camp schedule. Additional opportunity to work summer camp (May-August).

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Adult and pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, National Safety Council, or American Safety & Health Institute required prior to start date.
  • Robust ability to actively lead and engage youth.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with both children and adults.
  • Active listening skills and ability to relate to and provide fun, engaging, safe activities for youth of different backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision.
  • Ability to be a positive role model for program participants.
  • Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Enthusiastically lead and support participants through program activities.
  • Monitor participants to ensure compliance with rules, prevent accidents, and identify inappropriate behaviors.
  • Proactively address and deescalate inappropriate behavior.
  • Provide corrective direction to help participants learn appropriate actions and to make positive behavioral choices.
  • Work with program coordinator and program staff to plan and coordinate activities.
  • Maintain, clean and ensure proper use of facilities and equipment.
  • Supervise children ranging from ages [insert age range if applicable].
  • Clean up after the children every shift.
  • Play games and other activities with the children.
  • Make sure the children are checked in and out by parents.
  • Nurture sharing, sportsmanship and other social skills.
  • Escort the children to the playground and ball fields.
