Camp Tracy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate leader to provide behavioral support and mentorship throughout our day camp program. This role plays a vital part in shaping daily camp experiences—working closely with campers, counselors, and camp leadership to ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of characteristics and behavior of elementary school age children
  • 18 years or older
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in day and/or resident camps
  • Prior experience in staff supervision or related leadership experiences with other adults
  • Behavioral health related responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide the camp with specialized behavioral assistance.
  • Assist the camp director and day camp coordinator in carrying out daily camp programming through direct involvement with staff and campers.
  • Provide council, advice, and daily supervision for day camp staff.
  • Assist in the development of session themes and implementation of special events.
  • Provide indirect supervision to all campers.
  • Meet weekly with the other senior counselors and the camp director to review program plans, plan future events, and to discuss camp related issues.
  • Participation in all special events and pre-camp training.
  • Communicate with counselors within the day camp regarding activities, camp policies and procedures, and to evaluate staff competence.
  • Observe camper behavior, assess appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations or emergency procedures, and apply appropriate management techniques.
  • Assist campers with communication, social skills, and interactions throughout the week.
  • Provide ideas and help plan for weekly themed activities and camp-wide games.
