About The Position

We are seeking reliable and enthusiastic Youth Recreational Basketball Officials to officiate games for our youth basketball program. Officials play a key role in creating a fun, safe, and positive environment while ensuring games are officiated fairly and consistently. The J is committed to creating a diverse environment. Requirements

Basic knowledge of basketball rules and gameplay
Prior officiating experience preferred but not required (training provided)
Strong communication skills and sound judgment
Dependable and punctual
Comfortable working with youth athletes
Must be 16 years of age or older
Constant talking and hearing to communicate with players and officials
Frequent standing, walking and eye/hand/foot coordination as well as exposure to a generally loud gymnasium environment
Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling of 25lbs, stooping/crouching, sitting, climbing stairs/ladders throughout the building and on the court and repetitive motions to demonstrate and execute skills

Responsibilities

Officiate youth basketball games in accordance with league rules
Promote sportsmanship and positive behavior among players, coaches, and spectators
Ensure the safety of all participants
Communicate clearly and respectfully with players, coaches, and fellow officials
Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled games
Maintain control of the game in a calm and professional manner
