YOUTH APPRENTICESHIP APPLICATIONS WILL CLOSE ON MARCH 3RD SUMMARY The Youth Apprentice Trainer will be responsible for supporting the instruction on the systems and building of Pierce fire apparatus. This training could occur in small groups of team members or in a LIVE manufacturing environment. The Youth Apprentice Trainer will work with other trainers, and occasionally independently. This role will develop effective communications and a positive working relationship with all team members and students.

Requirements

  • High School/GED enrolled student.
  • Junior or Senior standing
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to convey ideas and thoughts through a written process
  • Willingness to speak in front of a group of people
  • Willingness to work one-on-one with other team members
  • Interest in a career in the education field or training

Nice To Haves

  • Desire to train in a live setting
  • Experience with basic hand tools
  • Ability to accurately read a ruler to the 1/16” of an inch
  • Desire to create curriculum
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to pivot seamlessly between different training disciplines
  • Ability to think “outside the norm” to bring new ideas to the team

Responsibilities

  • Provide training regarding assembly/disassembly of fire apparatus and use of applicable tooling.
  • Coach team members around performing tasks in a safe manner according to safety policies and rules.
  • Provide other trainers with support, as needed.
  • Communicate information positively and effectively.
  • Assist with creating online, written, and live training curriculum and materials.
  • Assist with developing, designing, and building training props.
  • Perform training needs analysis and task analysis.
  • Demonstrate how to access and locate technical information in internal Pierce systems.
  • Public speaking in the professional manner with new employees.
  • Create training materials following an established style guide format.
