About The Position

A member of the Clinical Programs team, the Health and Wellness Therapist will support the growth and development of SPY’s clinical services and programming, including offering crisis emotional support, individualized treatment plans, and progress reports that outline a member’s needs, goals, and opportunities for growth with the purpose of improving mental and emotional stability. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical understanding of direct service to at-risk populations and trauma-informed care. Specific knowledge of how trauma impacts the brain and physical development as well as experience related to transitional aged youth experiencing homelessness is a plus.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a mental health-related field such as Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling.
  • Registered as an ASW, AMFT, or APCC or licensed with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
  • At least 2 years of experience providing direct clinical services with skill in rapport building.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development, sexual and reproductive health, intimate partner violence, and intergenerational trauma transmission.
  • Knowledge of mental health diagnosing using a whole person care and culturally sensitive approach.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with parents and children.
  • Commitment to inclusive and restorative justice practices, anti-racism, and trauma-informed care.
  • A commitment to and passion for the mission, vision, values, and culture of SPY.
  • A self-starter who is prepared to drive innovative solutions for an emerging organization and an openness to learning.
  • An ability to work in a fast- paced environment that requires effective collaboration with a variety of individuals, departments, and organizations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of child and dependent adult abuse mandated reporting laws.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively to develop, innovate, and grow SPY’s Pregnant and Parenting (P&P) Program within our Clinical Department in alignment with SPY’s Strategic Plan.
  • Provide in-person therapeutic services at both our drop-in Center (Venice, CA) and at our family housing sites (Inglewood, CA), including individual and group therapy.
  • Develop and facilitate parenting support groups, educational workshops, and clinical groups.
  • Outreach and engage transitional age youth who are pregnant and parenting and complete program intakes.
  • Facilitate comprehensive assessments, including biopsychosocial assessments with transitional age youth, as well as developmental assessments with young children in our family housing program.
  • Collaborate with members to develop treatment plans designed to meet member identified goals, utilize clinically appropriate trauma-informed interventions, and document progress.
  • Ensure therapeutic services with youth and families are strengths based, non-judgmental, trauma-informed, and utilize harm reduction.
  • Participate in On-Call Clinician rotation during drop-in hours, completing risk assessments and safety plans when clinically indicated.
  • Contribute to clinical case conferences at the drop-in center and family housing sites.
  • Complete clinical documentation, activity tracking, and outcome reporting in a timely fashion.
  • Train Clinical Interns in the P&P Program.
  • Manage inventory and dissemination of supplies for the P&P Program.
  • Advocate and build community partnerships by attending external community meetings and events.
  • Work collaboratively across internal departments and assist with general SPY programming as needed.
  • Coordinate trainings for staff on P&P related topics.
  • Work within established legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of the program, department, and organization.
