About The Position

The Youth Advisory Council Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and supervising the Youth Advisory Council. They will plan and leads YouthWorks activities such as live stream productions, outreach, survey creation for youth voice, and is responsible for coordinating and facilitating learning sessions for youth participating in YAC. Assignments are carried out in accordance with Baltimore City (COB) and the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) - Youth Services Division procedures and policies. Work is performed under supervision of the YouthWorks Program Coordinator.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience: One-year supervisory experience with adolescent youth
  • Have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Non- supervisory experience or education may not be substituted for the required supervisory experience.
  • Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and be eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit. PROVISIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
  • NOTE: YOU MUST UPLOAD A COPY OF YOUR VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE WITH THE APPLICATION AT THE TIME OF APPLYING.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory criminal background, fingerprinting, plus drug and alcohol screening
  • Ability to work in-person
  • Part-time position (25-30 hours per week)
  • Solid ability to operate Microsoft Office software
  • Proficiency in various virtual communications platforms (i.e.: WebEx, Microsoft teams, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively communicate either in-person or virtually
  • Data entry experience
  • Ability to learn YouthWorks software programs
  • Solid time management skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Customer service and conflict management skills
  • Ability to mentor and counsel youth
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Solid skills to quickly evaluate program/curriculum delivery issues and identify resolution

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage youth during workday
  • Provide on the job training
  • Lead and facilitate youth meetings, trainings, and orientation
  • Facilitate youth-led virtual and in-person interviews for streaming sessions (Bright Future Fridays, Worksite Wednesdays, etc.)
  • Complete pre and post assessment for each YAC member
  • Implement work readiness curriculum
  • Input and submit YAC members time
  • Chaperone field trips
  • Lead community outreach
  • Plan and coordinate learning sessions
  • Assist with facilitation of youth lead work sessions
  • Develop end of program evaluation report
  • Other duties as assigned
