About the position

The Youth Activity Aide at Sunny Glen Children's Home plays a crucial role in assisting the Recreational Coordinator in designing and implementing a recreation program tailored for youth. This position focuses on creating leisure and acculturation activities, supervising daily recreational activities, and ensuring adherence to recreational policies. The aide will also help in developing a monthly calendar of activities and programs, responding to student and administrative concerns, and fostering a positive environment for youth engagement.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Recreational Coordinator in designing and developing a recreation program.
• Uphold recreational policies and requirements.
• Integrate common core government guidelines into recreational activities.
• Create benchmarks for program success and track progress.
• Develop programs that improve staff performance for student success.
• Provide guidance to department leaders and cooperate with them.
• Respond immediately to concerns from students and administrators.
• Supervise daily leisure and recreational activities.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university preferred, but not required.
• At least 1 year of experience working with children in a recreation department.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Valid Texas Driver's License.

Nice-to-haves

• P.E. or other recreation certifications preferred.
