About The Position

This position involves planning and directing daily programs for children in an assigned group, ensuring that activities are developmentally appropriate and child-centered, meeting the physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of the children. The role requires functioning as a team leader and role model while working with assistants and volunteers in the classroom.

Requirements

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) OR current enrollment in an early childhood certification program such as Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC), Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, AND completion of a CDA within one year of hire.
  • Six months experience in a structured classroom setting AND completion of a CDA within one year of hire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development/management techniques, appropriate activities for children and related care regulations.
  • Must be willing to obtain additional training on a regular basis.
  • Must be energetic, and have an interest in and enjoyment of children.
  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be certified in CPR and First Aid.

Nice To Haves

  • College courses, vocational school training in early childhood education (TCC) or Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) and one year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and directs daily programs for children in their assigned group.
  • Consistently provides developmentally appropriate and child-centered activities that meet the physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of the children.
  • Functions as a team leader and role model working with assistants and volunteers in the classroom.
  • Interacts positively with children at all times.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates daily activities for children in their assigned group, submitting plans to the Manager according to departmental policy.
  • Creates and maintains a physical environment that promotes positive development.
  • Responsible for supervision and constructive utilization of Teacher II.
  • Keeps appropriate records.
  • Maintains health and safety of children and environment.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development.
  • Responds in a professional manner to all situations.
