About The Position

The Young Adult Care Specialist at Lighthouse Youth & Family Services is a part-time role focused on providing care and support to young adults experiencing homelessness. The position is based at the Sheakley Center, which serves individuals aged 18 to 24, with the goal of guiding them towards secure housing and ending episodes of homelessness. The specialist will be responsible for direct supervision, crisis intervention, and documentation of daily activities, while also serving as a role model for the youth.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 25 years old due to driving requirements.
• Minimum of 6 months experience working with youth, preferably in a residential setting.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record to operate a 15-passenger van.
• Good written and verbal communication skills; bilingual and/or sign language proficiency is a plus.

• Experience working with youth in a residential setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision to young adults in the shelter.
• Conduct crisis interventions and document daily activities.
• Prepare meals and facilitate group sessions and outings.
• Ensure security and observation of the facility and its residents.
• Complete intakes, shift paperwork, and other assigned duties.
• Supervise activities, chores, hygiene, and bedtimes according to the program schedule.
• Assist the team with paperwork related to program outcomes and document significant events.
