About The Position

Forvia, a sustainable mobility technology leader, is looking for a year-round Research and Development Intern for its location in Columbus, Indiana. The R&D intern will focus in the R&D Manufacturing area providing opportunity to gain experience in the general management of a R&D manufacturing facility. This internship will focus on understanding the fundamentals of key areas: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Employee Empowerment.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Teamwork skills and good communication.
  • Basic understanding of Industrial Process.
  • Time Management and Data Analysis skills.
  • Primary knowledge in Lean Manufacturing, Project Timeline Creation, and Occupational Health/Safety.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Windows-based software.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with customers (internal & external) and suppliers regarding test specifications and requirements to ensure effective and efficient completion of product reliability and durability.
  • Collaborate with Applications to ensure program timing milestones are factored into Schedule timelines.
  • Manage cost budgets and Quality targets internally and per OEM.
  • Drive continuous improvement through method development and institutionalization of organizational knowledge.
  • Work on multiple projects with analysis, design, manufacturing, and testing input.
  • Support validation testing in Labs with an emphasis on effective asset utilization.
  • Present data in a clear and concise manner via reports and/or oral presentations.
  • Learn to draw accurate conclusions and provide solutions based on analyses and experimental results.
  • Develop and implement standard work instructions for processes and procedures.
  • Promote & maintain an organized work environment per company policy.
  • Apply safety standards in everyday work activities per company policy.
  • Develop and implement quality control processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Drive for schedule completion in all areas to meet customer MRD.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Manager.
