About The Position

This position is part of Southern California Edison's (SCE) Law Clerk Experience Program. Law clerks are expected to work forty hours per week during a 12-week period during the summer and an average of 15 hours per week for the rest of the school year. Hours in the school year will be somewhat flexible to accommodate academic commitments. You'll gain hands-on experience with meaningful work while developing essential skills and building your professional network. Requirements

• Must be a law student entering their third year of law school, pursuing a Juris Doctorate (JD) in Law at an ABA accredited institution.
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.00 or higher.

Nice To Haves

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience conducting efficient electronic and traditional research.
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Perform research on a variety of legal issues.
• Engage in writing memos, briefs, draft pleadings, and contract provisions at the direction of the supervising attorney.
• Attend departmental and client meetings, and other relevant meetings with supervising attorney(s).
• Assist in the representation of the Company on various matters, including in state and federal court.
• Advise client organizations in identifying and resolving legal, business and strategic issues related to general business issues, claims and liability.
• Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
• Perform other responsibilities/duties as assigned.
