About The Position

The Yardman position at Phillips 66 involves maintaining and operating equipment and processes in the Midstream business units, ensuring safety and efficiency in handling hazardous materials. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working in various environmental conditions. The Yardman will work both independently and collaboratively with other personnel to support operational goals and respond to emergencies as needed.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
  • High School Diploma / GED or higher degree.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Willingness and ability to climb up to 100 feet using both inclined and vertical steps/ladders.
  • Willing to work at least a 12-hour rotating shift, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, knee stand and squat up to 30 minutes at a time.
  • Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods over 2 hours at a time according to job demands.
  • Ability to work outside in harsh weather conditions.
  • Ability to work alone a high percentage of the time.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Ability to work overtime on an as-needed basis.
  • Ability to work with chemicals and bases.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (such as fire-retardant clothing, steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection).
  • Ability to maintain a clean-shaven face for proper respirator fit if applicable.
  • Ability to perform hazmat response duties.
  • Ability to work in enclosed spaces, such as tanks and silos.
  • Ability to work with high volatile liquids that are under high pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years of direct operational experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficient on MS Office and SAP with limited assistance.
  • Working knowledge of industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating awareness and commitment to safety.
  • Maintaining equipment and operations.
  • Taking samples/readings of various process streams.
  • Monitoring and observing assigned area for abnormal conditions and emergency situations.
  • Working with outside contractors and agencies.
  • Participating in safety reviews.
  • Initiating work orders and permitting for work related to the assigned unit.
  • Maintaining proper and safe process operations of the operating equipment.
  • Serving on the emergency response fire brigade, rescue team, and/or first responder team.
  • Participating in annual training refreshers.
  • Performing routine terminal maintenance.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely completion of paperwork.
  • Responding to emergencies and assisting in maintaining emergency equipment.
  • Maintaining measurement equipment.
  • Maintaining effective and professional relationships with terminal and pipeline customers and vendors.
  • Eliminating, containing and reporting any and all product and/or crude leaks, seeps and spills.
  • Monitoring and enforcing safety rules at loading rack and truck unloading facilities.
  • Identifying and promptly communicating operational and equipment problems to supervisor and/or completing trouble reports.
  • Operating valves.
  • Identifying and pursuing cost reduction opportunities.
  • Upholding company values, understanding and implementing all relevant company policies and procedures to ensure all work meets the required standard.
