Yard Tractor Operator - 3rd Shift

About the position

We are looking for a Yard Tractor Operator to join our Scotts Miracle-Gro team in Fort Madison, IA. This hourly role follows the Scotts/Hawthorne step pay progression scale and typically starts at $23.60 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts/Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate semi or yard tractor to move trailers on Scotts Fort Madison property between trailer yard and dock doors.
• Document all trailer movements to maintain accurate inventory.
• Perform daily safety inspections/checks once training is complete.
• Track and monitor drop trailers and communicate changes to warehouse personnel.
• Safely drive and operate yard tractor in all weather conditions around the lot.
• Maintain a neat and orderly storage lot oriented toward maximizing efficiency in servicing the plant needs.
• Function and interact on a daily basis with plant personnel and comply with plant safety requirements.
• Must clean and maintain yard tractor daily after each use once training is complete.
• Complete records in an accurate, neat and timely manner to support operations of the plant and transportation functions.
• Complete other duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Flexible work hours, and available for overtime.
• Ability to complete required yard tractor training.
• Good written, verbal, and radio communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with team members at all levels and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to perform activities in outdoor environment (heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, etc.).
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
• Previous experience operating a tractor/trailer preferred.
• Current or previous CDL preferred but not required.
