About The Position

Transdev in Boston, MA is seeking a Yard Supervisor (Washington yard in Roxbury, MA - position hours: 4:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) to bolster our team. In this role, the Yard Supervisor will perform a variety of functions to ensure that quality transportation service is efficiently delivered to customers. Position performs both field and office assignments at the discretion of management. Transdev is proud to offer: Position Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement: $27.54 per hour (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement Payscale) Benefits include: Vacation: Up to 20 paid vacation days, based on years of service. Sick days: 5 days. Holidays: 14 paid holidays: 12 standard and 2 floating. Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, such as a G.E.D.
  • Two (2) years of passenger transit related experience and/or supervisory experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence as well as reports.
  • Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, the client, and other employees of the organization.
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to read a map and possess knowledge of the service area.
  • Must be able to work as a member of the team.
  • Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups.
  • Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy and possess good judgement and discretion.
  • Proven customer service and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt and remain flexible in a fast- paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and listen to feedback.
  • Ability to use multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Be eligible to work in the Unites States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (if based in the U.S.).
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • College coursework preferred.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, internet, email, and/or database software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that "World Class Service" is provided to customers and provides "hands on" assistance and information to customers.
  • Ensures schedule compliance and assists in timely yard departures so that on-time performance improves.
  • Makes spontaneous decisions regarding changing of bus assignments in a yard.
  • Monitors and reviews pre-trip inspections to guarantee vehicle safety and compliance.
  • Dispatches replacement buses/drivers for vehicles involved in accidents or incidents and buses and drivers for special services.
  • Assigns manifests and documents assignments manually and in the specified computer system.
  • Assists DriveCam Manager and Supervisors by coaching Drivers in response to video recorded unsafe driving events.
  • Supervises and instructs drivers with regard to safety, service, and scheduling.
  • Assures that all routes are covered utilizing appropriate vehicles, personnel, equipment, and information.
  • Makes optimal use of company operating systems for the purpose of monitoring, dispatching, and improving on street service to the customers.
  • Monitors and enforces system for compliance with State and Federal regulations, Company policy, contractual obligations of the client and the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Ensures a safe environment for the operation of service.
  • Investigates accidents, unusual occurrences, and complaints for the purpose of filing appropriate reports as well as providing direction for the future.
  • Generate accurate operational records for the purpose of reporting and analysis.
  • Develops reports on a weekly, monthly and as-needed basis.
  • Ensures employees' fitness for duty.
  • Responsible for reducing the use of overtime.
  • Oversees the safety of the yard and Transdev Services property.
  • Coordinates and cooperates with Maintenance personnel to ensure efficient bus allocation to meet service requirements.
  • Performs day-to-day dispatch services from the yard and various field locations.
  • Monitors a two-way radio and responds to problems and emergencies.
  • Works well with fellow supervisors, dispatchers, Boston Public Schools Department of Transportation and all personnel of Transdev.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant General/Operations Manager.
  • Directly supervises drivers.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities including planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Accountable for all "essential duties and responsibilities" listed above.
