Central Valley has been voted among the Best Places to work in the North Bay by the North Bay Business Journal. We are currently seeking a Yard Supervisor for our Fairfield facility. The Yard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily yard operations to ensure the safe, efficient movement, storage, and handling of materials, equipment, and vehicles. This role provides direct supervision to yard personnel, enforces safety and operational procedures, and coordinates closely with logistics, maintenance, and management teams. The Yard Supervisor ensures yard activities support overall operational goals while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Requirements

Strong measuring skills
Familiarity with power and hand tools
3+ years supervisory experience
2+ years managing or driving operational processes or procedures
3+ years of customer service experience
5+ years of yard/warehouse experience
2+ years of forklift experience
Walking: 6-8+ hours per day
Standing: 6-8+ hours per day
Bending/Twisting: 3-6 hours per day
Squatting/Stooping: 3-6 hours per day
Climbing: Up to 3 hours per day
Kneeling Crawling: 3-6 hours per day
Pushing/Pulling: 3-6 hours per day
Hand Dexterity: 6-8+ hours per day
Lifting 0-25 lbs.: 6-8+ hours per day
Lifting 26-60 lbs.: 3-6 hours per day
Carrying 0-25 lbs.: 6-8+ hours per day
Carrying 26-60 lbs.: Up to 3 hours per day

Responsibilities

Ensures all customers receive exceptional service
Helps customers locate the product they need and loads vehicles as necessary.
Resolves customer dissatisfaction with materials.
Unloads and stocks incoming materials.
Keeps all yard and warehouse areas clean, neat and safe.
Assembles and loads products for delivery to customers, and transfers to other locations.
Observes yard and warehouse for safety, potential theft, and security risks.
Reviews vendor packing slip in order to verify quantity, product accuracy and condition, and turns into receiving.
Supervises yard/warehouse inventory counts.
Opens and closes the yard.
Stores material safely to prevent damage.
Stocks inventory neatly in the proper location within the yard and/or warehouse.
Rotates stock to maintain product quality – retail ready.
Identifies different building materials and wood products.
Operates and maintains the forklift and other yard equipment safely.
Completes daily forklift checklist
Measures and cuts materials by operating a power saw.
Strives for zero product damage while loading and unloading.
Reports all damages to the supervisor immediately.
Establishes work schedules for Yard Employees.
Clarifies performance expectations, coaches and guides performance.
Addresses any employee concerns and escalates to the supervisor as appropriate.
Performs employee one-on-one coaching with the supervisor.
Leads training of employees in department and may assist with cross-training others.
