About The Position

This position involves the safe and efficient operation of a Yard Mule Truck to move various types of trailers-including dry vans, flatbeds, ISO containers, and tankers-throughout a high-volume facility. Operators are responsible for transporting equipment between production areas and designated outbound staging zones while maintaining strict safety protocols. The role requires the use of heavy equipment, consistent physical labor, and a strong commitment to operational safety and efficiency. Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, perform equipment inspections, and operate independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience operating a Yard Mule or tractor trailer
  • Must complete on-the-job training within the first 2 months of employment
  • Ability to safely manage and maneuver heavy cargo in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • Must pass a DOT physical screening and other pre-employment evaluations
  • Frequent physical activity including: Sitting for extended periods while operating equipment Climbing, bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, and twisting Lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 lbs Walking, standing, and repetitive foot motions Must have good vision (close, distance, color, depth perception, and peripheral)
  • A high level of safety and environmental awareness is expected at all times
  • Must demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Responsibilities

  • Safely inspect and move trailers (dry vans, flatbeds, ISO containers, and tankers) to and from production lines, warehouses, and outbound shipping areas
  • Operate a Yard Mule Truck to move equipment across the facility grounds in a safe and timely manner
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of freight as needed
  • Conduct daily mechanical checks on the Yard Mule, including inspection of tires, lights, brakes, and fluid levels to ensure equipment is in safe working condition
  • Couple and uncouple trailers by operating landing gear and managing air line connections
  • Verify that trailers are correctly positioned, aligned, and secured before and after loading/unloading operations
