About The Position

The Yard Laborer plays a key role in supporting Beacon Recycling’s daily operations by assisting with vehicle fluid recovery, metal processing, material handling, and scale buying coverage. This position requires a high level of adaptability, a strong work ethic, excellent attendance, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Forklift and Skid Steer operation
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in all weather conditions
• Willingness to get dirty and perform physically demanding tasks
• Positive attitude, dependable, and self-motivated
• Ability to lift, bend, squat, stand, and walk for long periods
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality work
• Ability to lift 25lbs frequently and up to 80lbs if necessary

Nice To Haves

• Some prior experience in a scrap yard, recycling facility, or equipment operation is a plus

Responsibilities

• Drain fluids from end-of-life vehicles in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
• Shear oversized metal using equipment provided
• Assist with yard and facility cleanup using a skid steer and other equipment
• Provide break and lunch coverage for Scale Buyers in the peddler barn
• Assist Scale Buyers during peak times to keep operations running smoothly
• Operate forklifts and skid steers
• Keep yard areas clean, organized, and free of hazards
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
