As a Yard Jockey, you'll be at the heart of our dynamic operations, responsible for the vital movement of trailers within our buzzing premises. Your role is crucial in ensuring the seamless flow of operations, supporting both Transportation and Warehouse needs. Bring your A-game to the yard with safe and communicative practices that keep everything running smoothly. The Impact You'll Make: Move company equipment and trailers on and off docks as needed. Conduct visual inspections of the equipment and trailers regularly. Report any defects found to management. This position may serve as a backup Class A driver. Establish communication between Transportation and Warehouse teams. Leads, supervisors, or managers must authorize the movement of equipment and trailers. Management will also remove any locks on the air lines to prevent untimely movement of trailers. Aid in the preventive maintenance (PM) process of our trailers' needs between the jockey, transportation, and our maintenance technicians. Trailers due for a PM must be parked by our maintenance provider. Equipment is inspected, repaired, and maintained to prevent defects from surfacing before a violation or accident can occur. Conduct pre-shift and post-shift inspections of our tractor as required. Report any defects, incidents, or damages that occur throughout the shift immediately to management. Maintain proper charging of equipment with minimal downtime.

Requirements

  • Must have a Class A and active medical card
  • Prefer Vocational work in Logistics, Transportation, Heavy Equipment Operations or related field of training
  • Between 1-3 years of experience in a Yard Jockey position
  • Between 1-3 years of experience in operating, inspecting heavy equipment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid Commercial Driver s License (CDL), Class A or Class B as well as valid medical cards.
  • Enrollment in the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
  • Completion of CDL truck driving school.
  • Forklift certification desired.
