Essential duties and Responsibilities: Manage yard flow and trailer positioning by staging inbound, outbound, and empty trailers within designated dock zones and yard locations Execute prioritized trailer moves to support shipping, receiving, and cross-dock operations while minimizing yard congestion Function as a yard traffic controller during peak dock activity, coordinating trailer sequencing and dock door utilization Maintain real-time trailer inventory accuracy, including trailer numbers, locations, seal status, and load disposition within yard logs or Yard Management Systems (YMS) Perform yard audits and trailer sweeps to validate equipment counts, monitor dwell time, and ensure refrigerated (reefer) units are operational and within temperature compliance Update and transact data within YMS, WMS, or dispatch systems, ensuring accurate load status, trailer readiness, and movement tracking Verify and process shipping and receiving documentation, including BOLs, manifests, and load paperwork Identify and escalate load discrepancies, misroutes, or assignment conflicts to dispatch, warehouse leadership, or transportation teams Support dock operations by removing pallets, dunnage, and equipment from trailers and preparing units for reload Perform trailer sanitation and compliance tasks, including sweeping trailers, removing debris, and addressing spills to maintain food safety and operational standards Conduct light equipment and trailer maintenance, including inspection of lights, mud flaps, air lines, and reporting mechanical defects Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on yard tractors (spotter trucks) and monitor fuel levels to ensure operational readiness Proactively identify and report preventative maintenance issues to reduce equipment downtime Coordinate with over-the-road (OTR) and inbound/outbound drivers to safely position trailers into dock doors and staging areas Spot trailers for live load and live unload operations, ensuring timely door turns and minimizing detention risk Support dock communication and throughput efficiency during high-volume shipping windows Operate material handling equipment (MHE) including electric pallet jacks, walkie riders, and end riders in support of warehouse and trailer operations Enforce yard safety protocols, OSHA standards, and company operating procedures, including traffic patterns, PPE compliance, and safe equipment operation Maintain clean and organized work areas, including yard, dock, sanitation support and transportation office spaces Provide operational flexibility by supporting delivery routes or transportation functions as needed to address service failures, staffing shortages, or business continuity requirements Acknowledge that work schedules are subject to change based on business volume, holidays, staffing levels, and customer service demands And other duties assigned

Requirements

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Must possess and be able to present a valid non-expired interstate Medical card
  • Must be able to lift, push and/or pull up to 100 pounds on a regular basis
  • Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or walk; as well as sit for long periods of time
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English within the context of the job and safety requirements
  • Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • Must pass pre-employment testing (Drug Screen, Background Check)
  • Meets or exceeds minimum requirements established by Quirch Foods and FMCSR

Responsibilities

  • Manage yard flow and trailer positioning by staging inbound, outbound, and empty trailers within designated dock zones and yard locations
  • Execute prioritized trailer moves to support shipping, receiving, and cross-dock operations while minimizing yard congestion
