About The Position

The Yard Jockey/Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting trailers from the yard to the dock and vice versa. This role involves the use of power equipment to load and unload products, ensuring that all operations are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and company policies. The position requires flexibility in working hours, reliability in attendance, and a positive attitude towards work and colleagues. The operator must maintain high standards of quality and safety while managing multiple tasks effectively.

Requirements

• Ability to maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Solid knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements for operating a Class 8 commercial vehicle.
• Ability to lift 50lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing in and out of truck cabs and trailers.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license.
• Ability to use handheld RF Scan Device.
• Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and company policies.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a similar role or industry.
• Familiarity with electronic communication tools and systems.
• Knowledge of regional geography and effective travel route planning.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport trailers from yard to dock and dock to yard.
• Load and unload products using power equipment.
• Maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) as needed.
• Drive a Class A tractor trailer on commercial routes.
• Communicate effectively with shippers and consignees.
• Perform pre and post trip inspections of vehicles.
• Follow all safety and security policies and SOPs.
• Meet established productivity standards specific to the account.
• Ensure all inbound and outbound shipments are error and damage free.
• Report any unsafe acts or equipment malfunctions immediately.
