About The Position

This position is responsible for coordinating trailer and tanker traffic in the receiving yard and maintaining log of product loads while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Applicants will be considered for any Yard Driver opening. This position requires a current valid State driver’s license. Prefer minimum 3 months experience with trailers and tankers. Must pass Tyson Yard/Lot Driver Assessment. Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds, shovel, climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet, bend, stretch, reach, work in extreme hot, cold, inclement weather, and odors. Must be able to use basic hand tools and perform basic mechanical and maintenance functions. Maintain clean work area by use of soap and high pressure hose. Must be able to read to complete required logs. Must be able to communicate with supervisor and co-workers via two-way radio. May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. May be required to operate frontend loader, man lift, or forklift and will be required to obtain certification to do so. Must operate yard truck in a safe manner at all times by following all safety procedures. Move correct trailer from yard to door and door to yard. Communicate with drivers in a respectful manner. Set reefer units at appropriate settings. Check to see if reefer units will start. Communicate with dispatcher and follow instructions. Chock trailers. Report any fuel or oil leaks to maintenance. Breaks must be staggered. Will be responsible for the cleanliness of the shuttle truck. Will do pre-inspection for safety and mechanical defects on shuttle truck at beginning of shift. Lot checks as requested by management. Other Duties as Assigned. Must be willing to tolerate extreme cold and extreme heat (12 hours per day). Must be willing to bend at waist and knees on a repetitive basis (12 hours per day). Must be willing to twist and turn (12 hours per day). Must be willing to climb in and out of truck cab on a continual basis (12 hours per day). Must be willing to walk a great deal (12 hours per day)

Requirements

  • Must Have A Valid State Issued Driver's License
  • At least 18 years of age
  • No DWI / DWIs in the last 12 months
  • Rehires cannot have no more than 3 rehires and must wait 180 days to be eligible for rehire
  • Must pass Tyson Yard/Lot Driver Assessment
  • Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds, shovel, climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet, bend, stretch, reach, work in extreme hot, cold, inclement weather, and odors
