Cardinal Home Center has an opening for a Yard Associate position for those candidates seeking a part-time position to provide customer service per company standards, while maintaining accurate and efficient loading and unloading of all lumber yard related transactions. Additionally, as a Yard Associate you are responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly appearance of the yard and racks. Candidates must consistently demonstrate the highest level of ethical conduct when dealing with customers, team members and management.

Requirements

Communicate professionally with customers and team members
Skilled at providing prompt, friendly and attentive customer service
Willing to learn all areas of the yard and help train others
Excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
Willingness to work flexible hours including some Saturdays
Knowledge and experience operating saws, forklifts, and banders
Ability to walk and stand for an extended period
Ability to lift 90lbs required
Ability to bend repeatedly
Move and handle various building materials throughout the yard, which entails lifting and performing all functions as set forth
May work inside in many different environments
May work outside in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold

Responsibilities

Acknowledge ALL customers in the yard within a timely manner
Team oriented, willing to build and work with others
Assist customers with loading of lumber and other various building materials
Display good judgment when making decisions and solving problems-always considering what is best for the customer
Restock lumber and building materials as needed, while communicating restock needs with the Yard Supervisor and Purchasing Manager
Share information with others to help all associates learn and develop yard procedures and customer service skills
Assist with the unloading of incoming freight
Learn and adhere to all safety rules and regulations when operating saws, forklifts, and other equipment
Maintain a safe and clean work environment and demonstrate the utmost safety around customers and other employees
