About The Position

The Yard Associate at Bliffert Lumber is responsible for the efficient handling of building materials in the yard, including loading, unloading, and organizing inventory. This role involves direct interaction with customers, ensuring their satisfaction while maintaining safety and efficiency in operations. The Yard Associate will work closely with dispatch and management to ensure timely processing of materials and orders.

Requirements

• Knowledge of building materials.
• Ability to read and use measuring tools.
• Strong time-management skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Forklift experience and certification preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs frequently.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, store, transfer, and distribute materials such as lumber and insulation.
• Work with Dispatch or store manager to maintain workflow and prepare loads for delivery.
• Assist walk-in and pick-up retail customers as well as business-to-business customers.
• Accurately receive and pull orders and process credit returns.
• Perform general organization and housekeeping of the yard.
• Use power tools and saws safely to make rough cuts.
• Communicate effectively with store personnel, managers, and customers.
• Verify incoming materials for damage and accuracy, and monitor inventory levels.
• Complete regular inventory checks and report shortages to management.
• Maintain a safe working environment by following safety guidelines and using safety equipment.
